2011 News
Dates for 2011 will be Friday 21st January, Saturday 22nd
January and Sunday 23rd January. The change to the Friday,
Saturday and Sunday is due to the schools starting on Monday
24th January with the public holiday for Australia Day being
Wednesday 26th January.
About
The Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes has been an amateur cricket
carnival conducted over the long week-end in January since
1948 by the Charters Towers Cricket Association Incorporated
(CTCA), and it is now the largest in the southern hemisphere.
The event was recently given the status of being a Queensland
Iconic Event and in 2007 recognised by Queensland Events as
a regional event worthy of funding.
The Goldfield Ashes Objective:
‘The object of the carnival is to bring together from
near and far our fellow cricketers to participate with good
sportsmanship and friendly rivalry in the King of Games. We
welcome you and hope that your stay is a very enjoyable one.
2010 GOLDFIELD ASHES IMPORTANT DATES
1. CARNIVAL
Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th January, 2010.
2. NOMINATIONS
Nominations close: Friday 27th November, 2009.
3. ACCEPTANCE & DRAW
Draw completed: Monday 11th January, 2010.
The 2010 draw will be posted to the web page and letters
of acceptance will be sent on 12th January 2010.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY
The 2010 Goldfield Ashes will be held over the 23rd, 24th
& 25th January, 2010. The public holiday will be Tuesday
the 26th January, 2010. Therefore the 2010 Goldfield Ashes
will be conducted over the Saturday, Sunday and Monday preceeding
the Australia Day Holiday.
