The Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes has been
an amateur cricket carnival conducted over the long week-end
in January since 1948 by the Charters Towers Cricket Association
Incorporated (CTCA), and it is now the largest in the southern
hemisphere.
The event was recently given the status of being a Queensland
Iconic Event and in 2007 recognised by Queensland Events as
a regional event worthy of funding.
The Goldfield Ashes Objective:
‘The object of the carnival is to bring together from
near and far our fellow cricketers to participate with good
sportsmanship and friendly rivalry in the King of Games. We
welcome you and hope that your stay is a very enjoyable one.
