The Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes has been an amateur cricket carnival conducted over the long week-end in January since 1948 by the Charters Towers Cricket Association Incorporated (CTCA), and it is now the largest in the southern hemisphere.

The event was recently given the status of being a Queensland Iconic Event and in 2007 recognised by Queensland Events as a regional event worthy of funding.

The Goldfield Ashes Objective:
‘The object of the carnival is to bring together from near and far our fellow cricketers to participate with good sportsmanship and friendly rivalry in the King of Games. We welcome you and hope that your stay is a very enjoyable one.

Qld Masters Bulls XI vs Charters Towers Invitational XI – Sunday 27th January – 20Twenty game will commence at 3:00pm at York Street complex. Corporate Marquees available for $1200. Free coaching clinic by Qld Masters Bulls players for all children from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Come along and enjoy the fun. Further information contact Kerri Forno on 0488791163

Best Drinks Cart Competition - $200 bar voucher for York Street complex – Drinks carts will be viewed by Committee Members on Saturday and Sunday at the fields – winner will be announced before the commencement of the 20Twenty game between the Qld Masters Bulls XI and the Charters Towers Invitational XI on the Sunday.

2013 Carnival dates are Saturday 26th January, Sunday 27th January and Monday 28th January.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY
The 2013 Goldfield Ashes will be held on Saturday 26th January, Sunday 27th January and Monday 28th January (Public Holiday).
Could you please ensure that when nominating your team for the 2013 Goldfield Ashes, that all players are made aware of these dates to enable them to make any appropriate arrangements with regard arranging days off etc.

Teams not fulfilling their obligation to play on the nominated days will not be invited to participate in future Carnival.

In 2013 there will be a change made to the “A” grade competition. Only one competition will exist rather than having an “A1” and “A2” competition. All games will be 20Twenty games with teams playing 2 games on Saturday, 1 game on Sunday and 2 games on Monday.
